Lorry with illegal sand seized

An STF team attached to Debarawewa camp seized a lorry with illegally loaded sand and took into custody two persons at Magama in Tissamaharama on Monday. One was found in possession of 86 g of cannabis. The suspects and goods were handed over to Tissamaharama police.

Meanwhile, Kurunegala STF officers led by IP S Chinthaka de Silva took into custody three persons and seized a lorry with a load of sand and the equipment used in the illegal act in Deduru Oya, Nidangama, Wellawa on the same day. Another group of unlicensed sand dealers were nabbed along with a lorry and equipment at Hekitta, Wattala on Monday by STF headquarters officers.
