Explosives in bus from Jaffna

Moneragala Police yesterday recovered a parcel of C4 explosives from a private bus which was plying to Moneragala from Jaffna.

This parcel, containing 610 grams of C4 explosive had been kept on the dashboard of the bus when it reached Moneragala on Monday. When the conductor was questioned, he told the Police that the parcel belonged to an Army personnel who got into the bus in Kilinochchi.

It is said that the suspect is a resident of Bibile area. When the bus was checked by the police on its way to Moneragala, the suspect has kept the parcel on the dashboard and vanished. Later, the conductor has been informed by the suspect that he would come to fetch the parcel and asked the conductor to keep the parcel in the bus until he comes. Investigations are on.
