Man knocked down, dies in hospital

A pedestrian knocked down by a lorry near a co-operative filling station in Nikaweratiya along the Puttalam-Kurunegala main road, died after being admitted to Nikaweratiya hospital on Monday.

He was identified as W M H B Premadasa, 81, of Kandegedara, Hulugalla. The body was handed over to his relations after the postmortem. The lorry driver was to be produced before the Nikaweratiya Magistrate yesterday.
