Super luxury bus service

Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will add 20 new super luxury buses to its fleet shortly.

SLTB's chairman M.D. Bandusena said that a new super luxury city bus services will be launched as a solution to ease the traffic congestion created due to the increasing number of private vehicles entering the Colombo city limits daily.

He said this new luxury service will be implemented initially in the Colombo City.

It will be operative for the convenience of office workers and those entering the city in private vehicles which enter the Colombo city from six main corridors including Galle Road, High Level Road, Kaduwela Road, Negombo Road, Gampaha Road and Piliyandala Road.

This has caused heavy traffic congestion within the Colombo city limits daily. "Our objective is to attract vehicle users especially office workers who enter the Colombo city limits in their private vehicles to this super luxury bus services.

"It will help reduce traffic congestion and ease the pressure faced by the people who get stuck in the heavy traffic in the city," he said.

He also said the expenditure incurred by a private vehicle entering Colombo can be minimized through this programme.
