President attends Clinton Global Initiative
President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended the opening session of the
Clinton Global Initiative held in New York, yesterday.
The Clinton Global Initiative, which is part of the Clinton
Foundation and founded by former US President Bill Clinton in 2005, has
helped to strengthen the capacity of 800 million people in some 180
countries to meet the challenges of global interdependence.
Former Presidents, political leaders, Heads of multinational
companies, university students, intellectuals, welfare organization
leaders are among the other VIPs participating in the session. US
President Barrack Obama, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and
South African President Jacob Zuma are also due to participate in the
sessions.
