All set for Lankan travel show in Toronto
Several Sri Lankan companies have responded positively to participate
in the inaugural 'Wonder Sri Lanka' Travel and Trade Show 2011 which
will be held on October 16 and 17 at the Living Art Centre in
Mississauga, Toronto |Canada.
Travels and Holidays Network Ltd is organizing the event in
association with the Sri Lanka Consulate Office in Toronto headed by
Consul General Karunaratna Paranawithana.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau is providing their support in
organizing the event and managing director Rummy Jaufer is assisting in
the organizing to promote Sri Lanka in North America.
Sri Lankan Airlines and its US based operation headed by Dilan
Ariyawansa are also supporting the event as presenting sponsors.
Sri Lanka Export Development board's Executive Director Dr. Yousuf
Marikkar is coordinating and securing trade delegations from Sri Lanka
to promote the Sri Lankan trade sector in the show.
The Export Development Board will showcase their services at the show
along with the participant companies.
The Channa Upuli dance troupe is coordinated by Sagara Lakmal De Mel
who is the media coordinator in Sri Lanka. The event will also showcase
the travel photo exhibition by Athula Dissanayake, a producer at the Sri
Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
The event's main objective of the event is to divert tourists who
travel from North America to India and Maldives to Sri Lanka. The
Executive organizer Suvi Wijayarathna said with the Sri Lankan
Government's new tourism initiatives and vision, the private sector has
a huge responsibility in creating and marketing Sri Lanka as an added
destination for the tourist who travel to Asia. "Together with
government authorities, private sector could make Sri Lanka the Wonder
of Asia," he said.
'Wonder Sri Lanka' - Sri Lanka Travel and Trade Show is one such
project organized by the Travels and Holidays Network based in UK and
Canada. "This show will continue in six countries in the future which
include UK, India, China, Dubai, Germany and Russia."
"The trade exhibition will showcase Airlines, Hotels, Resorts, Travel
Agents, Tour Operators, Travel Suppliers, Gem and Jewellery, Spices,
Ceylon Tea, Gifts and Travel Accessories, Travel Publications, Textile
and Fashion, Ayurvedic and Spa Products and Freight and Cargo
companies," the Event Coordinator in Sri Lanka, Subran Cader said. She
said they have arranged special packages for participants of the event
which includes accommodation, booth space and visa assistance.
