A suspect resident in Galkanda, Mawanella was
arrested by the Dehiwala Police on Thursday in connection with a
spate of jewellery robberies in Dehiwala and Kohuwala recently.

Couple nabbed with fake notes
The Serunuwara Police arrested a couple with
seven counterfeit Rs 1,000 notes at the Verugal Kovil premises on
Thursday. The police said the couple had confessed to printing the
notes at their residence. The Police stated that the couple were
residing in Batticaloa and were arrested during a festival at the
Verugal Kovil festival ground.

Police seize ganja haul in Handapangoda
Ingiriya Police seized 425 grams of ganja in
Handapangoda yesterday. Police nabbed the suspect following a public
tip-off. A 23-year-old man, a resident of Kadanapitiya, was arrested
in this connection. Police also seized a trishaw belonging to the
suspect.
