Obama looking to get America’s rich to pay for mega jobs plan

By proposing to fund his $447b jobs bill with tax increases :

US: President Barack Obama has set the stage for a battle of wills with Congress by proposing to fund his $447 billion jobs bill with tax increases for wealthier Americans and corporations.

Obama’s political objective is to put Republicans in the House of Representatives in the awkward position of being painted as obstructionists as they face re-election in next November’s mid-terms.

He called on Congress to pass the bill “immediately”, with “no games, no politics, no delays”.But Republicans accused him of doing just that: playing political games with taxes.

Speaking at the White House flanked by Deputy President Joe Biden he said, "Ordinary Americans would benefit from this bill which wasc sent to the Congress on Monday. Obama said: “This a bill that will put people back to work all across the country, that will help our economy in moment of national crisis.” Daily Telegraph
