British School in Colombo added another wonderful facility to its
students when Sri Lankan Cricketers Mahela Jayawardena and Suraj Randiv
declared open the newly constructed outdoor cricket nets yesterday at
the school premises. The two nets were built at a cost of one million
rupees in order to widen the participation opportunities and to increase
practice hours.
Speaking on the occasion Mahela Jayawardena said that he was
delighted to see more schools taking upto cricket and wished that in the
future British School will produce players for the national team.
Head of Physical Education and Sports of the school, Fiona Molligoda
said that the nets are of immense importance as earlier they had to hire
grounds for practice sessions and the nets will save them a lot of
expenditure as well.
Executive Director of school, Lionel De Soyza, teachers and students
were present at the occasion.
