Local indigenous medicine promoted in Japan

The Indigenous Medicine Ministry had taken several measures to
promote Sri Lankan indigenous medicine in Japan with a series of
programmes in parallel to the Sri Lankan carnival and trade exhibition
held in Japan on September 10 and 11.
A number of indigenous medicine products of the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic
Drugs Corporation had been introduced to the international market at the
trade exhibition in Japan.
It will help to earn more foreign exchange to the country.
According to ministry sources they have conducted a wide ranging
promotion campaign on indigenous medicine in Japan. It will contribute
to promote tourism there as well.
The Indigenous Medicine Ministry had introduced several products of
indigenous medicine to Japan such as herbal wine, tripala, iramusu tea
bags, peyawa packets and beli tea bags. They are to be promoted
worldwide as well. Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayake said
that programmes will lead to a number of advantages in the promotion of
ayurvedic medicine and popular traditional treatment in Sri Lanka.
Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision also plans to promote Sri Lankan
indigenous medicine internationally and the present effort will be a
great support to achieve this goal, he added. Minister Salinda
Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayake, Minister's Private
Secretary Manjula Dissanayake, Additional Secretary Malkanthi Ekanayake
and Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation Chairman Somaweera Chandrasiri
participated at the trade fair in Japan.
They are also attended conferences in Japan on promoting Sri Lankan
traditional medical treatment.
