'Make NLSB centre a scholars' rendezvous'
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has called for the need to
make the National Library Services Board, a centre where scholars meet
and engage in debates.
The minister made this observation at the ceremony held at the
National Library Services Board recently to hand over appointment
letters to the Director Board including the chairman who were appointed
to the board. Professor Somaratne Balasuriya received his appointment as
chairman and the new directorate comprised Professor P D Epasinghe, Dr K
D Wimalaratne, Dr Leel Gunasekera, M S U Amarasena and Rohan Lakshman
Piyadasa.
Minister Gunawardena also pointed out the necessity for the new
directorate to pave the way for authors to make their books available to
readers after helping them to publish such books.
