Grade eight exam from 2012

The Education Ministry will introduce a scholarship examination for grade eight students from next year, following a proposal the Parliamentary Select Committee received on educational reforms.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said the grade eight scholarship examination will give students a second chance to test their abilities at a mature age.

Minister Gunawardena said that the Grade Five Scholarship examination will not be scrapped and would be considered as an efficiency evaluation examination for students once the educational reforms and the grade eight scholarship examinations are introduced in 2012.
