President opens Atavisi Budu Samadhi Chaithiya

President Mahinda Rajapaksa opened the "Atavisi Budu Asu Maha Shravaka Chiththa Maha Samadhi Chaithiya at Sri Nigrodharama ancient temple, Hegoda, Boossa yesterday afternoon amidst the blessing of 'Saadu Nada' of thousands of devotees at the temple.

The President made the first floral tribute to the pagoda during the blessings of Maha Sangha and unveiled a plaque at the temple.

Sri Nigrodharamaya temple is recognized as a historic religious institute in the country by producing many erudite scholarly monks and highly respected incumbents, such as, Most Ven Hegoda Indrasara Thera who rendered yeoman service to the country, society and Buddhism.
