Health Minister to attend IOM meeting

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena will leave for Geneva to attend
the high level meeting of the International Organization for Migrants
(IOM) to be held from September 15 to 17.
He will deliver a lecture on 'Resolution of health of migrants' at
this meeting. The minister will especially mention the hardships faced
by Sri Lanka when local professionals do not return to Sri Lanka after
foreign training programmes and its negative impact on Sri Lanka's march
towards becoming the 'Wonder of Asia', a Health Ministry spokesperson
said.
The minister will then leave for New York to attend the high level
meeting on Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) to
be held from September 19 to 20.
Health Ministers from all over the world will attend this event.
Minister Sirisena will deliver a lecture on the Sri Lankan situation and
the steps taken by Sri Lanka to control NCDs, the spokesperson added.
