SMED organizes delegation
The Small and Medium Enterprise Developers (SMED) the SME arm of the
Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) is
organizing a delegation to visit International Gift and Houseware Fair
in Bangkok to be held from October 18-22 at Bangkok International Trade
and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Thailand.
The trade delegation focuses on importers, wholesalers, manufacturers
and distributors of handicraft items, houseware and gift items,
artificial flowers and plants, Christmas decorative items, household
products, toys, toys manufacture and games and stationery.
The SMED is conceived in 1989. The primary objectives of SMED is the
development and promotion of a market economy in Sri Lanka through the
improvement of the competitive performances of individual of Small and
Medium Enterprises, as well as the straitening of the organizations
which represent the SME sector in the country. SMED is involved in
enhancing the SME sector traders through organizing trade delegations
for overseas exhibitions and developing the technical knowledge of
industrialists through organizing workshops, seminars, exhibitions. The
SME Machinery, Technology and Services Exhibition is one of the major
events held once a year.
For 2012 it will be held on August for the seventh consecutive time.
SMED is expecting to create business connections and market linkages to
go for the global market.
