To offer mMBA

SLT Mobitel partners Edinburgh Napier University:

In keeping with the government's efforts to encourage more foreign universities, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel partnered Scotland's Edinburgh Napier University to launch a 'global first' mMBA for aspiring Sri Lankan executives.

There seems to be a huge demand for higher education and the country has the highest literacy rate in South Asia. Edinburgh Napier is one of the fastest growing universities with a strong record. "This move will benefit Sri Lanka in taking higher education to the next level," British High Commissioner John Rankin said.

The IT skills in the country are impressive and Sri Lanka has a lot to offer in this regard. As rapid economic development is taking place in the country more and more people are linked to broadband. This provides an ideal platform for mMBA programme, he said.

"This is a world first and we have provided a launching pad to read for a mMBA. It is purpose built for the rural community who are deprived of Colombo facilities. This is an ideal opportunity for them as the country is well equipped with an mLearning network to support the entire country," he said.

Endinburgh Napier University has its presence in India and Hong Kong at present.
