Sarnath style Buddha statue to be unveiled

A 16-feet Buddha statue in Sarnath style from the Gupta period will be unveiled by Prime Minister D M Jayaratne at Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy on September 10 at 1.45 pm at the entrance of the International Buddhist Museum Complex in Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy.

The statue is installed as part of the commemoration of the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi under the joint activities of India and Sri Lanka as agreed in the joint declaration issued during President Mahinda Rajapaksa's state visit to India in June 2010.
