Night safaries soon in national parks

The Wildlife Department will initiate a night safari for tourists to watch wild animals. A fair price package will be introduced for the night safari, said Southern Province Wildlife Director A.H.Sumanasena.

This programme will begin from the Yala National Park.

Sumanasena was addressing a workshop for media personnel at the circuit bungalow in Weheragala. It was held under the patronage of Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M.Chandrasena. The workshop was organized by the Media Forum in collaboration with the Media Personnel's Cooperative Society.

This safari service will help increase the number of tourists and will also help expand the tourism industry.

The Agrarian Services and Wildlife Ministry and the Wildlife Department will take measures to transform the sanctuaries to generate more income avenues.

They will import night vision spectacles for the night safari package. A pair of spectacles will be valued at around Rs.80,000. All the infrastructure facilities and residential facilities will also be established in the sanctuaries.
