Court issues injunction order

Colombo District Court yesterday issued an injunction order preventing UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and the executive committee from expelling Environment Deputy Minister Abdul Cader from the party.

The deputy minister filed a case before the District Court against the party decision to expel him from the party for extending support to the 18th amendment to the constitution in parliament. The court extended the injunction order until the final determination of the case is given when it was brought before the Colombo District Court yesterday. The counsel on behalf of the respondents did not appear in court. Colombo District Judge Ranjith N. Wathupola ordered the case be heard exparte as the respondents did not appear in court.

The case which is heard exparte was fixed for November 24.
