Another express train service from Fort to Vavuniya

Plans are underway to introduce another intercity express train between Colombo Fort and Vavuniya in the near future.

The inaugural journey of the intercity train service will commence on September 11 at 3.50 pm from Anuradhapura.

Transport Minister Kumara Welgama said that this step was taken to enable the Northern citizens to reach the Colombo city comfortably and for commuters to arrive in Colombo faster.

The people in Vavuniya and other areas in the North had appealed to the Transport Minister to strengthen train services.
