Water project in A'pura

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has embarked on
a rural water supply enhancing programme on par with the Deyata Kirula
Anuradhapura district development initiative. Water Supply Programmes
including Oyamaduwa main water supply scheme were implemented by the
NWSDB at a cost of Rs 850 million, said NWSDB North Central Deputy
General Manager L.L.A. Peris.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardane will inaugurated construction work of
Oyamaduwa new Water Supply project next Sunday. It will maintain a
capacity of 2,0000 cubic metres of water per day. The estimated cost of
the project is Rs 600 million.
Peris said the minister will commission the Anuradhapura Mahamevuna
Uyana new Water Supply scheme on the same day.
The Mahamevuna Uyana water scheme has been completed at a cost of Rs.
4 million.
It is planned to tap Thalawa Oya Water flowing via the proposed
Oyamaduwa Deyata Kirula exhibition venue for Oyamaduwa water supply
project.
Around 3.5 million people are expected to visit the Deyata Kirula
exhibition starting from February 4 next year.
