Insurance scheme to benefit pensioners

More than 400,000 pensioners in the island will benefit from a
medical insurance scheme which will be implemented by the National
Insurance Trust Fund shortly, Fund Chairman Senaka Abeygunasekera said.
Those who join the scheme will be eligible for a Rs 10,000
hospitalization benefit. Rs 30,000 will be paid in the event of
specialist treatment, nursing services, surgical charges, anaesthetic
fees and medical advisory services annually.
Rs 20,000 will be paid for an eye lens implant.
