Ten Sri Lankan fishermen arrested

Allegedly fishing in Indian waters:

The Indian Coast Guard has arrested 10 Sri Lankan fishermen who were allegedly fishing in Indian waters yesterday.

According to the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry sources, the Indian Coast Guard has apprehended 10 Sri Lankan fishermen with their vessels in Indian waters.

Two fishing vessels carring these fishermen left from Dondra and Trincomalee fishery harbours. The fishemen arrested by the Indian Authorities are residents of Dickwella area.

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne is discussing with the External Affairs Ministry and the Sri Lankan High Commission in Delhi to ensure their early release.
