Bus strike called off

The private bus operators have decided to end the strike on Gampaha-Colombo, Nittambuwa-Pettah and nine other bus routes in the Gampaha District.

According to Private Bus Operators Association President Gemunu Wijeratne, the private bus service on many routes in the Gampaha district came to a standstill after the authorities issued a route permit for a bus plying from Udugampola to Panadura.

The President said the Association decided to call off the strike and take legal action against this move by the authorities.
