The cultural section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran
in Colombo organised a photographic exhibition to mark the International
Quds Day at the Marine Grand Banquet Hall, Wellawatte, Colombo,
recently.
Quds Day was known as International Al Quds Day is an annual event on
the last Friday of Ramadan (Holy month of fasting) to express solidarity
with the Palestine people.
It was held under the patronage of the Cultural Counselor, Cultural
Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahdi G Rokni.
The concept of Quds Day was first introduced in the Islamic Republic
of Iran, followed by the great Islamic revolution by Imam Ayatollah
Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution in August 1979.
Subsequently the entire Muslim and Arab world has accepted this concept,
and now commemorating the Quds day annually.
Ambassador of the Iran in Sri Lanka, several Ministers, Deputy
Ministers, Parliamentarians, Muslim Organization Representatives and
Media Personnel were present at this event.
