Ayurvedic medical centre for Dambana

The construciton of a new Ayurvedic Medical Centre in Dambana near the Adivasi Cultural Centre began on August 27 on the initiative of the Indigenous Medicine Ministry.

The construction commenced under the patronage of Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda Dissanayake and Adivasi Chief Uruwarige Wanniyala Aththo.

The Cultural Ministry has planned to launch several projects through the Indigenous Medicine Ministry on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Ayurvedic Medical Centre aims to uplift the living standards of the adivasi community and promote their traditional medical knowledge and treatment. It will include a herb collection centre where rare herbs such as aralu, bulu, nelli and katuwalbatu collected by the indigenous people could be purchased.

This project will be assisted by the Cultural and Arts Ministry and the National Heritage Ministry.
