Ayurvedic medical centre for Dambana

The construciton of a new Ayurvedic Medical Centre in Dambana near
the Adivasi Cultural Centre began on August 27 on the initiative of the
Indigenous Medicine Ministry.
The construction commenced under the patronage of Indigenous Medicine
Minister Salinda Dissanayake and Adivasi Chief Uruwarige Wanniyala
Aththo.
The Cultural Ministry has planned to launch several projects through
the Indigenous Medicine Ministry on the instructions of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Ayurvedic Medical Centre aims to uplift the living standards of
the adivasi community and promote their traditional medical knowledge
and treatment. It will include a herb collection centre where rare herbs
such as aralu, bulu, nelli and katuwalbatu collected by the indigenous
people could be purchased.
This project will be assisted by the Cultural and Arts Ministry and
the National Heritage Ministry.
