'Prosperous and peaceful year for all Lankans'

The coming year should be prosperous and peaceful year to all the Sri Lankans. Let the country progress well and truly, western province Governor Alavi Mowlana issuing a Ramadan message said.

He said, Muslims world over celebrated yet another day of festival. Ramadan signifies an important Religious ritual done only to please Allah and Allah alone. Total abstention from dawn to dusk elevates a faithful to a higher pedestal. During this period of fasting a human being assumes a higher role of an angel. So the whole month of Ramadan is a training ground for lesser mortals to get closet to the creator. This is why Allah says He would reward who fasted during the whole period.

You have fulfilled all what your Maker desires and awaits his good tidings in earnest. Do not have any qualms about your rewards. They will be bountiful.

Islam is a practical religion where social mores are given pride of place. The Almighty not only demands person's personal sacrifice but also commands the rich shares what he has with less fortunate. That is why Zakat is an important pillar in Islam No society would progress if the wealth is not equally distributed amongst all. That is why Islam pays such importance to charity.
