Houses for A'pura homeless

Rs 25 million has been set apart to provide houses for the families
living in temporary houses in the former terrorist threatened villages
under the Janasewana one million housing project. Parallel to Deyata
Kirula 2012 programme houses will be provided to all families in the
Anuradhapura district, Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and
Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said. The minister was
speaking at a meeting held on Deyata Kirula 2012 housing development.
The minister promised that around 800 who are living in Anuradhapura
sacred area illegally will be provided with permanent houses. Under this
programme 100 families are to be settled in Katukele area. Further seven
housing projects will have to be launched in seven electorates in
Anuradhapura district. It is expected to build 50 houses in each
electorate.
About 319 half-built houses in Mahavilachchiya road will be supported
to complete them by investing Rs 50 million. Under the Deyata Kirula
2012, 10 housing projects have been launched at a cost of Rs 150 million
to build 500 houses. The minister pointed out that 3,000 houses were
built in parallel to the last year Deyata Kirula in Moneragala district.
The whole programme shows clearly that President Mahinda Rajapaksa is
very much interested in developing the rural areas. |
