YOGA : Pawanmuktasana
Pawanmuktasana means freedom from air which is related to gaseous
distention of stomach. As the name suggests it is beneficial in gas
related problems of the stomach.
Step 1 – Lie down on your back on the mat. Fold your left leg up to
the knee and the left knee to the chest. Interlock both hands and keep
them on your knee support. Inhale and hold your breath.
Step 2 – Support your knee on your chest. Lift your spine and head.
Step 3 – Exhale and try to touch your knee with your forehead. Be in
this asana for about seven seconds. Practice this asana three times on
your left side and thrice on the right side. You can increase the number
of times you wish to practice this asana but always practice the same
number for both sides. Do not strain your neck if you cannot touch your
knee with your forehead.

* Improves flexibility of the legs and spine.
* Reduces fats in the abdominal area, thighs, buttocks and joints of
the body.
* Curbs acid reflux, heart diseases and even gout.
* In women this yoga is very much helpful in curing uterus related or
gynaecological problems and gives relief from scanty and painful
menstruation. However those who suffer from ailments in the spinal cord
and neck are asked not to practice this asana.
