Amarasiri Peiris, the talented musician that he is, has always possessed the knack to weave timeless musical compositions that could fill your senses with delight. Speaking to the press on his latest collection, Amarasiri expressed: “I tried to make some significant changes through my CD. I have tried to foil certain notes of Western Music into ours without doing any harm to our origins.” Though very a much a senior artiste, Amarasiri’s compositions have always had the magnetic touch to capture juvenile hearts of the younger generation. Not many contemporary musicians have been able to cater to the both generations of audiences like he has. Through compositions such as Oba Apal Malak Vagey and Magey Punchi Rosa Maley, he has been able to spur the younger generation and arouse their artistic appetite.

“Younger generation has always liked my music. Even through this album, I wanted to come up with a collection that younger generation could also enjoy. During seventies people had the spiritual capacity to enjoy a good artistic creation. Things have changed now, but a good creation can still make its mark,” he said.

The music direction for the new album is all done by the young musician Darshana Ruwan Disanayake. Expressing his thoughts on working alongside such a senior artiste, Darshana said, “Amarasiri Peiris’s majestic voice has a very philosophical and profound touch. He has the capacity to sing any lyrical composition in a very profound and deep manner.”

Amila Thenuwara, Dammika Bandara, Ranjith Rupasinghe, Raji Vasantha Welgama, Doctor Kapila Krishantha Suriyaarchchi and Kalum Srimal have composed lyrics for the new album.

The album was launched under the Torana label.
