Implementation of water supply facilities for Deyata Kirula
The proposal made by Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh
Gunawardena for the development of water supply facilities in and around
the Deyata Kirula exhibition area and in all Divisional Secretariats in
the Anuradhapura District as well was approved by the Cabinet.
Deyata Kirula National Development Programme 2012 will be held at
Oyamaduwa area in Medawachchiya, Anuradhapura in accordingly the
following projects will be implemented at a cost of Rs. 830 million. a.
Supply of water for Deyata Kirula Exhibition and for peripheral
development. b. Construction of 2000 M3 capacity water supply project in
Oyamaduwa area. c. Improving water supply facility in Anuradhapura
district parallel to Deyata Kirula Exhibition in all Divisional
Secretary Divisions.
This project will provide safe drinking water to 6100 families in the
area.
A new Courts complex for Homagama
On a proposal made by Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem, the Cabinet
approved to construct a four-storied building to accommodate two
Magistrate Courts, a District Court, a High Court and a Commercial High
Court at Homagama at a cost of Rs. 464.4 million.
New buildings for seven Divisional Secretariats
A proposal by Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W D J
Seneviratne for the construction of new buildings for the following
Divisional Secretariats was approved by the Cabinet.
Accordingly, new buildings will be constructed for Nuwaragam Palatha
East, Nochchiyagama, Rajanganaya, Lahugala, Padiyathalawa, Ninthavur and
Horana Divisional Secretariats.
Chilaw District General Hospital, to be brought Central Government
On a proposal made by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena the
Cabinet approved to take over District General Hospital - Chilaw by the
Central Government.
The Governor, North Western Provincial Council has given his consent
for this hospital to be taken over by the Central Government with the
objective of providing better and efficient healthcare services to the
people in the Puttalam District and surrounding areas.
Two cardiac catheter machines to National Hospital
The Colombo National Hospital will receive two cardiac catheter
machines within a period of three months.
A proposal made by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena for the
construction of new consultation rooms, extension of the catheter
surgeries and construction of rooms for nursing officers at a cost of Rs.
24.14 million was approved by the Cabinet.
International conference on the theme 'Community and Water Services -
Challenges for Sustainability'. The Community Water Supply Project has
been designed to motivate and encourage rural communities to be
self-reliant in their water supply and sanitation needs.
This project has been implemented in various parts of the country
with the direct participation of the community.
There are nearly 3500 community based organizations formed under this
project, benefitting approximately 600,000 families.
On a proposal made by Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh
Gunawardena, Cabinet approval was granted to hold an International
Conference on the above theme from September 29 to 30, 2011 in Kandy
with the intention of sharing our experience with those in the region
and countries outside who have had sector related success.
