Bhathkande music exam 2011
The Tower Hall Theatre Foundation is entertaining applications for
the dancing and music examination 2011 which will be conducted by the
Bhathkande Music College in India.
Those interested can obtain application forms from the Lionel
Edirisinghe Centre at Sarasavipaya at the Elphinstone Theatre premises
during office hours.
Applications will be accepted until August 29.
Adhisthana Pooja
A Maha Adhisthana Aloka Pooja to invoke blessings on the people,
conducted by Kaluwamodara Government School principal Ven Kaluwamodara
Seelathilakatissa Thera will be held at the Lenawara Raja Maha Viharaya
on August 31 at 6pm.
Colombo YMCA sale
A sale of household items, costume jewellery, sarees, shalwars,
books, magazines, flowers, new and nearly new clothes and other items
will be held today from 10am at the lobby of the Colombo YMCA 39,
Bristol Street, Fort.
Tagore film festival
The Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo in association with Directorate
of Film Festivals, New Delhi, is organizing a five day film festival
from September 1 to 5 at the NFC Cinema, 303, Bauddhaloka Mawatha,
Colombo 7 as part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of
Rabindranath Tagore.
The films to be screened are Pather Panchali (Song of the Little
Road) directed by Satyajit Ray on September 1 at 6.30 p.m., Choker Bhali
(Sand of the Eye) directed by Rituparno Ghosh on September 2 at 6.00 p.m,
Gahare Baire (Home and the world) directed by Satyajit Ray on September
3, at 6.30 p.m, Agantuk (The Stranger) directed by Satyajit Ray on
September 4 at 6.30 p.m, Rabindranath Tagore (Documentary in English) at
6.00 p.m and Charulatha (The Lonely Wife) directed by Satyajit Ray at
7.00 p.m on September 5. All films except the documentary on Tagore are
in Bengali with English subtitles.
Invitation cards can be collected from the Indian Cultural Centre for
the Film Festival.
