Revival of Sri Lankan martial arts

An exhibition of martial arts, indigenous to Sri Lankan culture, will take place at the Battaramulla Janakala Kendraya today at 5 pm.

The exhibition is organized by the Culture and Arts Ministry.

"This unique form of Sri Lankan martial arts was practised in Sri Lanka before the arrival of the British to this country. It is our cultural heritage. Many Indian kings invaded the island, but each time they were driven back. Such was the invincible might of the fighting techniques; the traditional martial arts which was Sri Lanka's national pride," a spokesperson said.
