Sri Lanka Army SC emerged champions in the Women’s Open Club Football
Tournament 2011 when they trounced Sri Lanka Air Force SC by 4-1 at
Police Ground, Bambalapitiya.
T.G.D.K. Samarasinghe of SLA SC pilled up two goals while I B M Nanda
Kumari and Kanthi Mallika netted another two.
Rashini Fernando of SLAF scored the consolation for her team.
Earlier, in the semi finals SL Army SC overcame SL Navy SC by 3-2 in a
penalty shoot while Ari Force SC entered the final after defeating
Police SC by 1-0.
H.N.D. Fernando of Army was adjudged the most valuable player of the
tournament.
Her teammate A M A S Wijeratne won the title for the best goal keeper
out of 12 teams which took part in the tournament.
