Navin thanks Ranil

Public Management and Reforms Minister Navin Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe for sending talented members of his party to the SLFP.

According to the minister the number of UNP members joining the SLFP is increasing day by day and another two members of the UNP had joined the SLFP because they are disappointed with the leadership of the party.

Former Urban Council Member of UNP D.G.Mahinda Kumara and UNP member Nuwara-Eliya Muslim Mosque Chairman Mohomad Faleel obtained membership of the SLFP from President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees, yesterday.

The minister said that Mahinda Kumara and Faleel will contest the upcoming election from the Nuwara-Eliya Municipal Council and he believes that SLFP will receive a thumping victory in the Nuwara-Eliya election.

Minister Dissanayake was addressing a special press conference held at the Center for Habitat Planning and Development yesterday.

”When power is shared between the two parties, it is difficult to develop the country according to a single concept and for the sake of development in the Nuwara Eliya district, it is important that a SLFP council is returned,” he said. ‘We have put forward a powerful team for the upcoming election, the people of Nuwara Eliya have understood the President’s development programme and they will pledge their assistance to the government,” the minister further added.
