Man charged for misleading youths

A racket involving the defrauding of youths, promising executive
postings in state banks was unearthed by the Panadura Police Special
Crime and Fraud Bureau following the arrest of the mastermind. The
suspect Senadirage Dayananda of Ferry Road, Mahabellana, Panadura has
been a former coordinating secretary of an ex-UNP Parliamentarian.
He had posed as the present coordinating officer of a minister and
allegedly earned around Rs 4.3 million from youths including young
educated girls promising executive jobs in state banks.
Panadura Police SCIB officials said forged appointment letters and
other documents were traced from the possession of the suspect after his
arrest.
When he was produced in Court on Thursday a Police officer from the
Colombo Division Fraud Bureau appeared before Court and informed that
the suspect had cheated several youths in Colombo and Tangalle.
He had defrauded youths to the tune of Rs 1.3 million. Some had
received forged letters of appointment under the Finance Ministry seal.
Investigations are continuing.
