Navy SC in first innings win

Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club scored a first innings win over Kandy Cricket Club in their Sri Lanka Cricket’s under 23 inter-club quarter-final match played at the Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegala yesterday.

Having an overall lead of 371 runs, on Saturday, the Sailors batted for a further 20 overs yesterday morning while adding 105 runs more.

Chanuka Ruwansiri made 153 not out with 21 fours and two sixes. Malith Cooray scored 100 which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. This pair put on 231 for the sixth wicket. Trinity schoolboy spinner Lakshan Jayasinghe took 5 for 75.

This set Kandy Cricket Club a victory target of 482 to win in 78 overs. At close, they were 256 for 7.

Navy Sports Club 229 and 364 for 6 declared in 99 overs (Chanuka Ruwansiri 153 n.o., Malith Cooray 100, Lakshan Jayasinghe 5 for 75).

Kandy Cricket Club 117 all out and 256 for 7 wickets in 78 overs (Bhaghya Pallihawadana 57, Kasun Ekanayake 58, Dinuk Wickremanayake 66 n.o., Lakmal Keerthiratne 3 for 47, Yohan Kumara 2 for 46).
