July sees highest tourist arrivals

The increasing trend in tourist arrivals continue further with July 2011 recording a 32.3 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

July recorded 83,786 tourist arrivals where India topped the list with 12,587 tourists while UK recorded 12,003 arrivals and the Middle East recorded 10,136 tourists. The Indian arrivals recorded an increase of 46.9 while increases for UK and the Middle East were 3.4 percent and 48.3 respectively.

The cumulative arrival figure upto July this year was 465,324 compared to 341,991 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

A similar trend in countries of arrival was recorded in 2010. The three major tourism generating countries were India, UK and the Middle East. July recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals recorded so far for this year. The highest number of arrivals upto the first seven months for last year too was in July.
