Laugfs to venture overseas in energy sector

Laugfs Holdings Limited will focus on consolidating its presence in Sri Lanka with an aggressive marketing strategy.

The company has many plans for the future. It aims at becoming the number one energy company in Sri Lanka. Laugfs plans to venture in to energy sector in countries such as South Africa, Bangladesh and Cambodia. It already has the presence in Australia, Laugfs Holdings Limited Managing Director Thilak de Silva told Daily News Business.

"We have taken measures to consolidate our presence in Sri Lanka with more emphasis on consumer marketing. Laugfs being a true Sri Lankan brand has been accepted well in the local market.

"We will build on this platform further to expand market base," he said.

"Laugfs is an accepted brand in the markets in the USA, Europe and Canada. We will pay special emphasis to become a regional player in the near future," he said.

Among the diversification plans Laugfs Holdings will enter into the education sector shortly.

The Group has expansion plans for its all 18 companies. The LMD named Laugfs as the leader in the emerging brand category of new brigade by the international brand agency Brand Finance.
