Kandy Sports Club head points table

Defending champions Kandy Sports Club turned in a dazzling display of open rugby to score a smashing 36-8 win over CR and FC to move to the top of the points table of the Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Tournament.

Spearheaded by Sri Lanka fly half Fazil Marija who scored three scintillating tries the lads from Kandy crossed the Red Shirts goal line on six occasions to obtain a bonus point and now have 40 points from nine games. CR and FC's defeat has relegated them into the fourth position with 28 points. The Longden Place Club which had an excellent season last year in which they missed out on the Caltex 'A' Division League Title by a mere 0.50 points is having a season of mixed fortunes winning four games, losing four and drawing one.

The Sri Lanka Navy which is enjoying another fine season came up with a sterling display to score an impressive 35-19 win over Havelocks Sports Club which propelled them into the second place in the points table. The sailors under the inspiring leadership of flanker Yoshitha Rajapaksa scored four tries to gain a bonus point which gives them a tally of 36 points displacing Havelocks who slid down to third place with 35 points.
