Two Pakistani naval ships PNS Shamsheer and PNS Nasr, arrived at the
Colombo Port yesterday.
They were returning from China after participating in Brunei Fleet
Review 2011 with Mission Commander Commodre Muhammad Amjad. They were
welcomed by the Navy. The Mission Commander and the ships’ Commanding
Officers called on Navy Commander Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake
at the Naval Headquarters.
They held discussions on matters of bilateral relations and mutual
interests. Mementos were exchanged to mark the occasion.
PNS Shamsheer is a guided missile frigate with a displacement of
3,143.9 tons. It is 123 metres in length and carries a complement of 28
officers and 215 sailors. The ship is commanded by Captain Ahmed Farooq.
PNS Nasr is a fleet oil tanker with a displacement of 21,850.7 tons.
It is 170.45 metres in length and carries a complement of 23 officers
and 296 sailors. The ship is commanded by Captain Ovais Hyder.
