Fined for illegally tapping electricity

A woman who illegally tapped electricity for a saw-mill at Anguruwathota area, was fined Rs 10,000 by Horana Magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha, who also ordered her to pay Rs 252,242.50 to the Ceylon Electricity Board as compensation. The accused S Kanthi Silva was a resident of Angurwathota area.

The raid was carried out by Ceylon Electricity Board, Colombo Special Investigation Unit Officers P D Ajith, S Chandana, N L Premasiri and Sisira Kumara with the assistance of Anguruwathota police.
