Three day old infant found

A three day old infant girl was found abandoned by the road side in Negombo on Sunday.

The infant which was wrapped in a bed sheet was found by the Negombo Police in front of a house on Fifth Cross Street near the Negombo Police Station on Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses said that a woman in Punjabi dress was seen getting off a three wheeler and keeping the infant at this place.

The infant will be handed over to the Prajapathi Children's Home, Panadura on the orders of Acting Magistrate Swarna Perera.

Police are trying to trace the whereabouts of the infant's mother.
