But there are directors who have already recognised the way the teledramas are dwindled due to ignorance of the majority of stakeholders in the industry. Sumudu Wellalage is a teledrama director much sensitive to social criticism. He is now going to unleash his creativity to meet the demands of the viewers. He has identified the loopholes in the industry as an artiste who can feel the pulse of the people.

These days he is engaged in directing Husma saha Oxygen. The title itself is somewhat special that we can expect a novel approach in the screen. The story develops around five young people hailing from ordinary family backgrounds. They are in a struggle to prosper their future in their own ways. The characteristics attributed to each character depend on the social and economic factors which are very much akin to their life.

“In fact, these characters are totally shaped by the way they think. They are down-to-earth characters. Once they were utopian but after experiencing what is in reality they get adapted to have a practical approach to their life. They think in a different perspective but practical to the very word. A university student is suspended from the university and he gets to work in a garage. He was an engineering student suspended for his misdemeanor,” explained Sumudu Wellage.

“I have written the script. So the story takes a new life towards the end. It is at the end people will fathom what I am trying to put across. The story deviates at some points with the five young characters with their qualities exceptional qualities.” Sumudu further explained.

The story tries to depict a comprehensive picture of the society where bogus as well as real characters are available. The five characters will be associated with numerous characters which will bring the story to a worthwhile end. The social backdrop for the story will be the coastal belt which claims another sub culture of Sri Lanka shaped by the impact of the tourism.

“The tele series will be a novel experience to our people who love fancy tele dramas. For that I am trying my best to present this creation,” Sumudu claimed.
