Kandy CC enter quarter-finals

Kandy Cricket Club entered the quarter-finals of the under 23 cricket
tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket by defeating Saracen's Cricket
Club on the first innings at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday.
Kandy Cricket Club scored a mammoth 396 for 9 declared on the first
day.
Two schoolboys Dharmaraja's Sasith Gunasekera 121 (19 fours) and
Trinity's Kehliya Athugoda 114 (17 fours) put on 233 for the second
wicket. Left arm spinner Eranga Sashina took 6 for 80 for Saracens CC.
Saracens in their turn at the wickets folded up for 158, trailing behind
by 238 runs.
Kandy CC 396 for 9 wickets in 98.5 overs (Kheliya Athugoda 114,
Sasith Gunasekera 121, Lakshitha Dassanayake 44, Kavinda Jayasuriya 40,
Dinuk Wickremanayake 35 n.o., Eranga Sashina 6 for 80) and 141 for 7 in
39 overs (Kavindra Jayasuriya 33, Kavinda Abeysiri 3 for 15, Eranga
Sashina 3 for 32).
Saracens CC 158 all out in 48.3 overs (Eranga Ratnayake 54, Mohamed
Aslam 62, Janishka Premasinghe 5 for 61, Kavinda Jayasuriya 4 for 16). |
