Highest dengue cases in July

Last month had shown the highest number of dengue cases in the island since the beginning of this year Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit statistics revealed.

The number of dengue cases recorded in July was four fold that of January.

This figure upto the fourth week of July was 3,697. Among them 1,577 dengue patients had been recorded in the Colombo district.

The total number of dengue cases since the beginning of the year had soared to 13,975 with 112 deaths. Among this number, 5,454 cases and 51 deaths were recorded from Colombo.

The Epidemiology Unit requested public participation to curb dengue.
