Ten couples in cinema warned

Ten teenage couples inside a cinema in Alawwa town were nabbed by police and severely warned.

The couples were boys and girls aged between 13 and 15, police said.

The students from Veyangoda, Gampaha and Negombo, had told their parents that they were going for tuition classes, police said.

Meanwhile, a leading drug dealer distributing ganja near the Alawwa railway gate was nabbed by police with 11 packets of drugs in his possession.

The suspect was produced before the Warakapola Magistrate and remanded.

Meanwhile, Alawwa police are investigating a jewellery and cash theft from a house at Gorokgasdeniya in the Alawwa police area.

The theft had taken place while residents were away.
