Flemingo enters BIA with duty free shop

One of the world’s largest players in duty free and travel retail the
Flemingo Group had been awarded franchise to operate a duty free shop at
the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Flemingo Chief Executive Officer P.K. Thimmaya said the Flemingo
group will open its duty free shop at the Bandaranaike Airport next
month for the large number of passengers using the BIA.
He said confectionaries, perfumes, spirits and other items will be
sold to travellers at reasonable prices. “Now Sri Lankans enjoy peace
with the end of the war and this type of investment will help to
increase tourism in the country,” he said.
He added that a number of Sri Lankans and a few Indians will be
recruited for the duty free shop at the Airport.
“We have taken partnership from a single location to global level
propelling on the strength we see in one another. Flemingo seeks to
continue its growth cycle parallel with all its partners and suppliers
and become a global giant in the corporate arena,” he said. Flemingo has
been expanding exponentially mainly due to its relentless commitment to
compliance issues and vision to see beyond the obvious and is now being
recognized as a serious contender in the duty free industry throughout
the world.
Flemingo has pioneered and changed travel retail policies and brand
perception of the industry in India operating across the multiple
formats such as airport, seaport, border shops, defence shops and UN
commissary shop.
Flemingo group is fast becoming a serious contender in the duty free
industry in the world. They plan to expand aggressively by offering the
market the very best products and services in the industry.
The contract was signed by Flemingo Managing Director Mahendra Thakar
and Airport and Aviation Services Chairman Prasanna Wickramasuriya last
Friday. |
