Thrilling win for Ratmalana SC

In the third match of the 4th Annual Dilmah Challenge Trophy Tournament for the blind played on July 10 at the Somaweera Chandrasiri Stadium, Piliyandala, Ratmalana Sports Club scored a thrilling two wicket victory over the much fancied CEI Plastics SC.

Assisted by a breezy 54 from Sri Lanka skipper Chandanakumara Suriyarachchi (54 with 8 boundaries) CEI totalled 212 all out in 29.4 overs.

Chanaka Ratnakumara (25 with 4 boundaries) also excelled. Chandanakumara put on a valuable 84 runs for the 4th wicket with Gihan Dabare (14). Lakshan Devapriya (2 for 42) bowled best for Ratmalana.

Lanky Sri Lankan cap Lakshan Devapriya coming in at No 10 blasted one 6 and 4 boundaries to be 27 not out and turn the tide in fevour of Ratmalana SC with a 9th wicket unbroken stand of 32.

Another Sri Lankan cap Thushara Udhayanga stroked an elegant 60 with 10 boundaries and put on 56 for the 2nd wicket along with Saman Jayantha. Kalum Lakshman wielded the willow with gusto scoring 33 with 5 boundaries.

Kalyanakumara (3 for 19) and Dimuthu Perera (2 for 17) bowled best for CEI.

Plastics SC and Senehasa Sports Club, Beliatta had to be satisfied with one point each in their match played on July 17 at Ratgama.

CEI collapsed to 50 for 4 wickets when rain caused the CEI ground to be waterlogged and forced the abandonment of the match. Ruwan Wasantha remained not out on 17.
