Boy, 7, chained by aunt

A 42-year-old woman was arrested by the Puttalam Police yesterday for chaining a seven-year-old boy. The Police arrested the woman of Sewa Mawatha, Puttalam on a tip-off that a schoolboy was seen bound with a chain. The Police rushed to the scene and found the bound child.

The woman was the boy’s mother’s elder sister. The child’s parents were also living in the vicinity. The boy had allegedly sneaked into his aunt’s house to skip school. The aunt allegedly bound the child with the chain to discipline him.The suspect woman was produced before the Puttalam Magistrate yesterday evening.
